Increase origination and financial targets as a new partner in the firm.

The Challenge

A newly promoted partner and talented lawyer at a prestigious law firm wanted to increase her origination and strengthen her referral network. She wanted to accomplish this as efficiently as possibly because of her increased partnership responsibilities and to balance her work/family life.

The Solution

We worked individually with the lawyer to define her personal brand and to clarify her definition of success.

We assessed the lawyer’s strengths/interests and identified the lawyer’s target clients.

We wrote a new profile highlighting the lawyer’s strengths and what differentiated her in a way that was relevant to the clients she wanted to attract.

In partnership with the lawyer, we created a 12-month business plan with a specific 90-day action plan. The plan included writing and speaking on topics related to solving the target clients’ most important problems. Our goal was to position this lawyer as a thought leader in her area of expertise and to keep her top of mind with referral sources and target clients.

The Results

The new partner was able to: Attract clients that aligned with her strengths and interests; achieve her origination goals; gain more control over her referral network; and change her mindset on the value of business development based on the consultations from prospective clients who had read her blog and selected her because her profile resonated with them. Since she was able to convey the types of work she does best, she attracted clients whose need matched her expertise.
