Principle 4
Create a road map for your practice that gives you focus and direction
The only way to significantly grow your practice is to create a marketing plan that works for you and then take action on working your plan. The following are four key success factors in building your practice:
- Create a plan
- Keep your plan simple
- Do it consistently
- Focus on building and maintaining relationships
There are five steps to developing your plan:
- Set a clear goal. A goal is a statement of intention. It is you own personal statement of what you want, what you plan to focus on and what you intend to accomplish. Having a goal gives you a clear destination in your journey to growing your practice.
- Identify 3-4 strategies that will help you achieve your goal. Each strategy should have a clear objective that is Specific Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time- bound.
- Organize your strategies into a plan. Decide what you need to do first and what you need to do later. Decide what must be done and in what order. Rework your plan until it is complete.
- Take action on your plan immediately. Do something, anything, but get started. The primary reason people fail is because they don’t take action on their goals and plans.
- Resolve to do something every day that moves you toward your major goal. This discipline of doing something every day enables you to develop and maintain momentum. Daily action increases your determination and gives you energy. This single resolution, daily action can turn your business around. (Make the call, write the letter, hire a coach share your goal, Do something and do it now!)
